If you haven’t heard of Wim, he’s a Dutchman famous for achieving unbelievable feats of human endurance relating to cold exposure. Known as the Ice Man, he is seeking to help as wide an audience as possible learn his methods to improve their lives.

The book is an entertaining auto-biographical journey through Wim’s life with details of his techniques to improve oneself through the three pillars of breathing, cold exposure and mental focus. It’s quite a story and has certainly got me trying out the breathing and cold water aspects of the method.

There is lots of scientific evidence to back up the method and some incredible stories along the way. It’s more of a history and narrative than a detailed how-to but there are details of the techniques to address a number of situations plus useful resources to get you going.

Fundamentally though, Wim’s story is intriguing, entertaining and life-affirming. His personality shines through and I found this a thoroughly enjoyable, inspiring read. If you’re at all interested in the techniques or Wim, this book’s a must.
